Garden season may be winding down, but our community and school garden program is just heating up. We’re taking advantage of the winter lull to finalize plans to assist schools, organizations, and neighborhoods with the installation, funding, and maintenance of free sharing gardens that will one day dot our city and county. The goal is to put food where people live – and to educate young and old alike about the joys of cultivating and harvesting fresh garden produce.
If you’re interested in placing a sharing garden on your organization’s property OR in helping fund a garden, please be in touch with us! We are here to help launch vegetable gardens, food forests (fruit trees and shrubs), and/or pollinator gardens at any scale. We’ll assist in finding funding, developing a garden and maintenance plan, coordinating volunteers, and ensuring that your successful harvest gets to people who need it.
We’re grateful to be in partnership on school gardens with our local Purdue Extension office through their Junior Master Gardener program. If you’re a Master Gardener (junior or not), please reach out to us if you’d like to volunteer in any aspect of our community and school garden project.
